26 ¹Gatekeeper divisions: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah son of Kore, of Asaph's sons. ²Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, ³Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh. ⁴Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad second, Joah third, Sachar fourth, Nethanel fifth, ⁵Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth, for our Father had blessed him. ⁶Shemaiah his son also had sons over their father's household, for they were men of great valor. ⁷The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men. ⁸All these were among the sons of Obed-edom—they, their sons, and their brothers, strong and able for the work: sixty-two of Obed-edom. ⁹Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, able men—eighteen in all. ¹⁰Hosah, of Merari's sons, had sons: Shimri the chief—though not the firstborn, his father made him chief. ¹¹Hilkiah second, Tebaliah third, Zechariah fourth; Hosah's sons and brothers totaled thirteen.

¹²These gatekeeper divisions, assigned by chief men, served like their brothers in our Father's house. ¹³They cast lots, small and great alike, by their families, for each gate. ¹⁴The east lot fell to Shelemiah. For his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, they cast lots, and his lot came out north. ¹⁵To Obed-edom fell the south, and to his sons the storehouse. ¹⁶To Shuppim and Hosah fell the west, with Shallecheth Gate on the ascending road, watch facing watch. ¹⁷Six Levites stood east, four daily north, four daily south, and two by two at the storehouse. ¹⁸At the pavilion on the west: four at the road and two at the pavilion. ¹⁹These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the Korahites and the Merarites.

The Father's Treasurers, Officers, and Judges

²⁰Ahijah the Levite oversaw the treasuries of our Father's house and the treasuries of the dedicated gifts. ²¹The sons of Ladan, the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the family leaders of Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli. ²²Jehieli's sons, Zetham and Joel his brother, oversaw our Father's house storerooms. ²³Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: ²⁴Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief officer over the treasuries. ²⁵His relatives through Eliezer: Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, Shelomith his son. ²⁶Shelomith and his brothers oversaw all treasuries of gifts dedicated by King David, the family heads, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and army commanders. ²⁷From the plunder won in battles they dedicated gifts to maintain the house of our Father. ²⁸All that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah dedicated—every dedicated thing—Shelomith and his brothers oversaw.

²⁹Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons managed Israel's outside affairs as officers and judges. ³⁰Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives—1,700 capable men—oversaw Israel west of the Jordan, for all our Father's work and the king's service. ³¹Among the Hebronites, Jerijah was chief, by their family records. In David's fortieth year, a search found capable men among them at Jazer in Gilead. ³²Jerijah's relatives were 2,700 able men, family heads. King David set them over the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter of our Father and the king.
