2 Chronicles 19

19 ¹ Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem. ² Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate our Father? Because of this, wrath has come upon you from our Father." ³ Yet there are good things in you, for you have swept the Asherah poles from the land and have set your heart to seek our Father.

⁴ So Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to our Father, the God of their ancestors. ⁵ He appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. ⁶ He said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for people but for our Father, and he is with you in every case you decide." ⁷ Now let the fear of our Father be upon you. Be careful and act, for with our Father there is no injustice, no partiality, and no taking of bribes.

⁸ Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests and heads of the ancestral families of Israel to render the judgment of our Father and to settle disputes; and they returned to Jerusalem. ⁹ He commanded them, saying, "This is how you are to act, in the fear of our Father, faithfully and with a whole heart." ¹⁰ Whenever a dispute comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities — whether a case of bloodshed, or a matter of law and commandment, statutes and ordinances — you are to warn them, so that they do not incur guilt before our Father and wrath comes upon you and your brothers. Act in this way, and you will not incur guilt. ¹¹ Now, Amariah the chief priest is over you in every matter of our Father, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the tribe of Judah, in every matter of the king; and the Levites will serve as officials before you. Be strong and act, and may our Father be with those who do good.
