2 Chronicles 27

27 ¹ Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok. ² He did what was right in the eyes of our Father, just as his father Uzziah had done — though he did not enter the temple of our Father. But the people still acted corruptly. ³ He built the Upper Gate of the house of our Father and built extensively on the wall of Ophel. ^a a v3 Ophel was the fortified ridge just south of the temple mount, forming part of Jerusalem's inner city wall. ⁴ He built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built fortresses and towers. ⁵ He fought against the king of the Ammonites and prevailed over them. That year the Ammonites paid him 7,500 pounds of silver, 50,000 bushels of wheat, and 50,000 bushels of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second year and the third. ⁶ So Jotham grew strong, because he kept his conduct right before his Father. ⁷ The rest of Jotham's acts — all his wars and his deeds — are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. ⁸ He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. ⁹ Then Jotham rested with his ancestors, and they buried him in the city of David. And his son Ahaz became king in his place.
