Craftsmen Called by Name
Bezalel is called by name and filled with the Spirit — wisdom, understanding and craftsmanship — with Oholiab beside him and skill placed in every willing artisan's heart. Then the Sabbath is given as the sign of this covenant. Our Father hands Moses tablets written by his own finger.
31 1Our Father spoke to Moses:
2"Look, I have called by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of Judah's tribe, 3and I have filled him with my Spirit, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 4to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, 5in cutting stones for setting and in carving wood, to work in every kind of craft. 6I myself have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to work alongside him. I have put wisdom in every skilled craftsman's heart, so they can make all I have commanded you. 7The tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the atonement cover over it, and all the tent's furnishings, 8the table and its utensils, the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense; 9the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand; 10the woven garments, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons' garments for priestly service, 11and the anointing oil, and fragrant incense for the holy place—they must make them exactly as I commanded you."
The Sabbath Given as a Sign
12Then our Father said to Moses:
13"You yourself speak to the Israelites: Above all, keep my Sabbaths—a sign between me and you, generation after generation, so you know that I, your Father, make you holy. a a v13 Our Father gives the Sabbath as the sign that he, not their own effort, sets his people apart as holy. 14Keep the Sabbath—it is holy to you. Whoever desecrates it must surely be put to death; whoever does work on it will be cut off from among his people. 15Six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to me. Anyone who works on the Sabbath day must surely be put to death. 16The Israelites must keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath in every generation as a lasting covenant. 17It's a sign between me and the Israelites forever: in six days I made heaven and earth; on the seventh day I rested and was refreshed."
18When he finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two testimony tablets, stone tablets, written by the finger of our Father.
