Job Answers

Chapter 26.

Then Job answered: "How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that has no strength! How you have counseled the one with no wisdom, and abundantly shared sound insight! With whose help have you spoken these words? And whose breath came from you? The departed spirits tremble — those beneath the waters and all who dwell there. The grave lies naked before our Father, and Destruction has no covering. He stretches out the northern skies over empty space; he hangs the earth upon nothing. He wraps up the waters in his thick clouds, yet the clouds do not burst beneath their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds across it. He has drawn a circle on the face of the waters, at the boundary between light and darkness. The pillars of the heavens tremble, astounded at his rebuke. By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered the sea monster Rahab. By his breath the heavens grew clear; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent. And these are but the outskirts of his ways — how faint the whisper we hear of him! But the thunder of his power, who can understand?"
