Leviticus 27

27 ¹Our Father spoke to Moses, saying:

²"Speak to Israel: When anyone makes a special vow to me, dedicating a person by their equivalent value, ³if the valuation is for a male from twenty years old to sixty years old, the value is 1.2 pounds of silver, by the sanctuary standard. ⁴If it is a female, the valuation is to be about twelve ounces. ⁵For ages five to twenty, the valuation is about eight ounces for a male and about four ounces for a female. ⁶If from one month to five years old, the valuation is about two ounces of silver for a male and about one.two ounces for a female. ⁷If sixty or older, the valuation is about six ounces for a male, four ounces for a female. ⁸But if he is too poor for the valuation, he is to be presented before the priest, and the priest is to set his value; the priest is to value him according to what the one who vowed can afford.

⁹"If the vow is an animal that may be offered to me, every such one given to me is holy. ¹⁰He must not exchange or substitute it, good for bad or bad for good; if he does substitute one animal for another, both it and its substitute become holy. ¹¹If it is any unclean animal that may not be offered to me, it is to be presented before the priest, ¹²the priest will set its value, good or bad; as the priest values it, so it will be. ¹³But if he wishes to redeem it, he is to add a fifth to its valuation.

¹⁴"When someone dedicates his house as holy to me, the priest is to set its value, good or bad; as the priest values it, so it stands. ¹⁵If the one who dedicated his house redeems it, he adds a fifth of its value in silver, and it is his.

¹⁶"If someone dedicates to me part of a field he owns, its value follows the seed for it—about 1.2 pounds of silver for six bushels of barley seed. ¹⁷If he dedicates his field from the Year of Jubilee, it is to stand at the full valuation. ¹⁸But if he dedicates his field after the Jubilee, the priest will figure the price by the years left until the next Jubilee, and lower the valuation to match. ¹⁹If the one dedicating the field wants to redeem it, he must add a fifth of its silver value, and it stays his. ²⁰But if he does not redeem the field, or has sold it to another, it can no longer be redeemed. ²¹When the field is released in the Jubilee, it becomes holy to me, like a devoted field; it belongs to the priest as his property.

²²"If someone dedicates to me a bought field, not part of his ancestral possession, ²³the priest is to calculate the valuation up to the Year of Jubilee, and he is to pay it that day as something holy to me. ²⁴In the Year of Jubilee the field returns to the one it was bought from, to whom the land belongs. ²⁵Every valuation is to be by the sanctuary standard.

²⁶"No one may dedicate the firstborn of any animal; it already belongs to me—whether ox or sheep, it is mine. ²⁷If it is an unclean animal, he redeems it at the valuation plus a fifth; if not redeemed, it is sold at the valuation.

²⁸"But nothing a person devotes to me by ban—a human, animal, or field he owns—may be sold or redeemed. All so devoted is most holy to me. ^a a v28 A thing "devoted by ban" was given over to our Father irrevocably — set apart so completely it could never be bought back or sold.

²⁹"No person devoted under the ban may be redeemed; he must be put to death.

³⁰"Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the ground or of the fruit of the trees, is mine; it is holy to me. ³¹If anyone redeems part of his tenth, he adds a fifth to it. ³²Every tenth of the herd and flock—each animal passing under the shepherd's rod—is holy to me. ³³He must not check whether it is good or bad, nor substitute for it; if he does, both it and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed."

³⁴These are the commandments our Father gave Moses for the people of Israel on Mount Sinai.
