Malachi 4

Book

The Day Our Father Acts

Chapter 4.

For look — a day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble; that day will set them ablaze, says the Father of heaven's armies, leaving them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go out leaping like calves released from the stall. And you will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Father of heaven's armies.

Remember the instruction of my servant Moses, the statutes and judgments that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

See, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of our Father comes. a a v5 Jesus identified John the Baptist as the Elijah promised here, the one who came to prepare hearts for him (Matthew 11:14; 17:10-13). And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, so that I will not come and strike the land with utter destruction.
