Chapter 18.

18 ¹After Jesus talk all dis things, e comot go with im disciples cross di Kidron Valley, where one garden dey; im and im disciples enter inside. ²Judas, di man wey betray am, sabi di place too, because Jesus dey gather there many times with im disciples. ³So Judas come there with plenty soldiers and officers wey di chief priests and di Pharisees send, dem carry lantern, torch, and weapon.

⁴So Jesus, wey sabi everything wey wan happen to am, comot come tell dem, “Na who una dey find?”

⁵Dem answer am, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus talk, “Na ME.” Judas, di man wey betray am, stand there with dem. ^a a v5 Jesus dey talk di holy name wey our Papa give Moses for di burning bush. ⁶When Jesus tell dem, “Na ME,” dem draw back and fall for ground.

⁸Jesus answer, “I don tell una say na ME. So if na me una dey find, make una leave dis men make dem go.” ⁹Dis one make di word wey Jesus im self talk happen: “I no lose even one for di people wey you give me.”

¹⁰So Simon Peter draw im sword, strike di high priest servant, and cut off im right ear—di servant wey dem dey call Malchus.

¹¹So Jesus tell Peter, “Put your sword back for im place. E no fit be say I go drink di cup wey my Papa don give me?”

¹²Then di soldiers, dem commander, and di Jewish officers hold Jesus and tie am.

¹³Dem carry am go meet Annas first, because na im be di papa-in-law of Caiaphas, wey be high priest for dat year. ¹⁴Na Caiaphas be di one wey advise di Jews say: e better make one man die for di people.

Peter Follow Enter di Courtyard

¹⁵Simon Peter and anoda disciple follow Jesus. Dat disciple, di high priest sabi am, so e enter with Jesus go inside di high priest courtyard, ¹⁶But Peter stand outside for di door. So di oda disciple, wey di high priest sabi, comot, talk to di girl wey dey for di door, and bring Peter enter. ¹⁷Di servant girl wey dey guard di door tell Peter, “No be you sef be one of dis man disciples?” E talk, “No be me.”

¹⁸Di servants and officers stand dey warm dem body for one charcoal fire, because cold dey; Peter sef stand with dem, dey warm im body.

Dem Question Am for di Night

¹⁹Di high priest come question Jesus about im disciples and im teaching.

²⁰Jesus answer am, “I talk open open to di world; I dey always teach for synagogue and for di temple, where all di Jews dey gather. I no talk anything for hidden place.” ²¹Why you dey ask me? Ask di people wey hear wetin I tell dem; dem sabi wetin I talk.”

²²As e talk dis one, one of di guards wey dey near slap Jesus, e talk, “Na so you dey answer di high priest?”

²³Jesus answer am, “If na wrong thing I talk, testify about di wrong; but if na correct thing, why you dey strike me?”

²⁴Then Annas send am, still tie tie, go meet Caiaphas di high priest.

Peter Deny Again

²⁵Peter stand dey warm im body. Dem talk, “No be you sef be one of im disciples?” E deny am: “No be me.”

²⁶One of di high priest servants, wey be family to di man wey Peter cut im ear, ask, “No be you I see with am for di garden?”

²⁷Peter deny am again, and sharp sharp one rooster crow.

Dem Hand Am Over give Pilate

²⁸Then dem lead Jesus comot from Caiaphas go di governor headquarters. Na early morning e be. Dem demself no enter, so dem no go come dirty for God eye but fit chop di Passover. ²⁹So Pilate comot come meet dem and talk, “Wetin be di accuse wey una carry come against dis man?”

³⁰Dem answer am, “If dis man no dey do wrong, we for no hand am over give you.”

³¹Pilate talk, “Una take am una self and judge am with una own law.” Di Jews talk, “Dem no allow us to kill anybody.”

³²Dis one make di word wey Jesus don talk happen, dey show wetin kind death e wan die.

³³So Pilate go back enter di headquarters, call Jesus, and ask, “Na you be di King of di Jews?”

³⁴Jesus answer, “Na from your own head you dey talk dis one, or na oda people tell you about me?”

³⁵Pilate reply, “Abi I be Jew? Na your own nation and di chief priests hand you over give me. Wetin you don do?”

³⁶Jesus answer, “My kingdom no be from dis world. If e be, my servants for don fight so dem no go hand me over give di Jews. But my kingdom no dey from here.”

³⁷Then Pilate tell am, “So you be king?” Jesus answer, “Na you talk say I be king. Na for dis reason dem born me, and na for dis reason I come into di world—to testify about di truth. Everybody wey belong to di truth dey hear my voice.”

³⁸Pilate ask, “Wetin be truth?” Then e comot go meet di Jews again and talk, “I no find anything wrong for am.”

³⁹But una get one custom: I dey release one man give una for Passover. So una wan make I release di King of di Jews give una?

⁴⁰Dem shout again, “No be dis man, na Barabbas!” Now Barabbas na tief.
