Titus 2

2 ¹ But as for you, speak what is fitting for sound teaching. ² Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love, and in patient endurance. ³ Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, but teachers of what is good, ⁴ so that they may train the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, ⁵ to be self-controlled, pure, caring for their homes, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of our Father may not be slandered.

⁶ Likewise urge the younger men to be self-controlled. ⁷ In everything be an example of good works, with integrity and dignity in your teaching, ⁸ sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that any opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

⁹ Slaves are to be submissive to their own masters in everything, trying to please them, and not talking back, ^a a v9 These instructions addressed enslaved people within the first-century Roman social order. ¹⁰ not pilfering, but showing complete and good faithfulness, so that in everything they may adorn the teaching of our Father, our Savior.

¹¹ For the grace of our Father has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present world, ¹³ as we wait for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, ^b b v13 Here Jesus himself is called "our great God and Savior" — one of the New Testament's clearest statements that the Son is fully God. ¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own, zealous for good works.

¹⁵ Declare these things; encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
