One More Plague
One plague remains. At midnight every firstborn in Egypt will die, from the throne to the millstone, and a cry will rise like none before. Yet not a dog will growl at Israel — our Father makes the distinction plain. Moses leaves Pharaoh's presence in burning anger.
11 1Our Father said to Moses, "One more plague I will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that he will send you out from here; when he does, he will drive you out completely. 2Tell the people: let each man ask his neighbor, each woman her neighbor, for silver and gold objects."
3And our Father gave the people favor with the Egyptians. Moreover, Moses himself was very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of Pharaoh's servants and the people.
4Moses said, "This is what our Father says: Around midnight I will go through Egypt,
5"and every firstborn in the land of Egypt will die, from Pharaoh's firstborn who sits on his throne to the slave girl's firstborn behind the millstones, and every firstborn animal. 6A great cry will fill all the land of Egypt, unlike any before or since. 7But not even a dog will growl at any of Israel's people, man or animal, so you'll know our Father distinguishes Egypt from Israel. 8All these servants of yours will come down to me, bow before me, and say, 'Go, you and all the people who follow you.' After that I will go out." Then Moses left Pharaoh in burning anger.
9Our Father said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you, so my wonders multiply in the land of Egypt."
10Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh, but our Father hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he refused to send the Israelites from his land.
