Peace Offerings
The peace offering may come from herd, flock, or goats, male or female, but never defective. The fat and kidneys are burned as food; the rest is shared. Two lasting limits are set for everyone, everywhere: never eat fat, and never eat blood.
3 1"If someone's offering is a peace offering from the herd, male or female, he must present it without defect before me. a a v1 The peace offering was the one sacrifice shared as a meal — the worshiper, the priests, and our Father at one table. It celebrated fellowship and wholeness with him. 2He lays his hand on his offering's head and slaughters it at the tent of meeting's entrance, and Aaron's sons the priests splash the blood against all sides of the altar. 3From the peace offering he must present to me a food offering made by fire: the fat covering the inner parts and all the fat on them, 4both kidneys with the fat on them near the flanks, and the long lobe of the liver, which he removes with the kidneys. 5Aaron's sons will burn it on the altar atop the burnt offering on the wood over the fire—a food offering, a pleasing aroma to me.
6"If his peace offering to me is from the flock, male or female, he must present it without defect. 7If he brings a lamb as his offering, he is to present it before me, 8lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it before the tent of meeting; Aaron's sons will splash its blood on all sides of the altar. 9From the peace offering he must present a food offering to me by fire: its fat, the whole fat tail cut off close to the backbone, the fat covering the inner parts, and all the fat on them, 10both kidneys with the fat near the loins, and the liver's long lobe, which he removes with the kidneys. 11The priest will burn it on the altar as food, an offering made to me by fire.
12"If his offering is a goat, he is to present it before me, 13lay his hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the tent of meeting; Aaron's sons will splash its blood on all sides of the altar. 14From it he must present a food offering to me by fire: the fat covering the inner parts and all the fat on them, 15both kidneys with their fat near the loins, and the liver's long lobe, which he removes with the kidneys. 16The priest will burn them on the altar as food, an offering by fire, a pleasing aroma. All fat is mine.
17"This is a lasting rule for all generations, wherever you live: never eat any fat or any blood."
