Leviticus 7

7 ¹"This is the law of the guilt offering. It is most holy. ²Where they slaughter the burnt offering, they must slaughter the guilt offering; splatter its blood on all sides of the altar. ³All its fat is offered: the fat tail and fat covering the inner organs, ⁴the two kidneys and their fat at the loins, and the liver's long lobe, removed with the kidneys. ⁵The priest burns them on the altar as a food offering to our Father; a guilt offering. ⁶Any male priest may eat it, eaten only in a holy place; it is most holy.

⁷"The sin offering and guilt offering share one law: it belongs to the priest who makes atonement with it. ⁸The priest who offers anyone's burnt offering keeps its hide for himself. ⁹Any grain offering baked in an oven, and all made in a pan or on a griddle, belongs to the priest who offers it. ¹⁰Every grain offering, mixed with oil or dry, belongs equally to all Aaron's sons.

The Law of the Peace Offering

¹¹"This is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings that anyone may bring to our Father. ¹²If he presents it as a thank offering, with it he must offer unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers coated with oil, and cakes of fine flour well kneaded and mixed with oil. ¹³He must bring loaves of leavened bread with his thanksgiving sacrifice of peace offerings. ¹⁴From it he must give one of each as a contribution to our Father; it belongs to the priest who spatters the blood of the peace offerings. ¹⁵The meat of his thanksgiving peace offerings must be eaten the day it's offered; none of it may remain until morning.

¹⁶"If his offering is a vow or voluntary sacrifice, it must be eaten the day he offers it; what remains may be eaten the next day. ¹⁷But any sacrifice flesh remaining on the third day must be burned in fire. ¹⁸If any of his peace offering's meat is eaten on the third day, it won't be accepted, it won't count for the offerer—it's tainted, and whoever eats it bears his guilt.

¹⁹"Flesh that touches anything unclean must not be eaten—burn that flesh in fire. But other flesh: anyone clean may eat it. ²⁰Anyone who eats meat of our Father's peace offering while unclean will be cut off from his people. ^a a v20 To be 'cut off from the people' meant exclusion from Israel's covenant community, likely by divine judgment or communal action. ²¹Whoever touches anything unclean—human impurity, an unclean animal, or any unclean, detestable thing—then eats meat from our Father's peace offering, that person will be cut off from his people."

The Father Forbids Fat and Blood

²²Our Father spoke to Moses:

²³"Tell the people of Israel: Do not eat any fat from ox, sheep, or goat. ²⁴Fat from a carcass or animal mauled by a predator may serve any purpose, but never eat it. ²⁵Anyone who eats fat from an animal offered to me by fire will be cut off from his people. ²⁶You must not eat any blood at all, from bird or animal, wherever you live. ²⁷Anyone who eats any blood will be cut off from his people."

The Priests' Portion

²⁸Our Father spoke to Moses:

²⁹"Speak to the Israelites: Whoever presents his peace offering to me must bring his offering to me from that sacrifice. ³⁰With his hands he must bring my food offerings; the fat with the breast he must bring, to wave the breast as a wave offering before me. ³¹The priest burns the fat on the altar; the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons. ³²You are to give the right thigh to the priest as a contribution from your peace offerings. ³³Whichever son of Aaron offers the peace offering's blood and fat gets the right thigh as his portion. ³⁴For I have taken the breast of the wave offering and thigh of the contribution from Israel's peace offerings, and given them to Aaron the priest and his sons as a permanent share from Israel."

³⁵This is Aaron and his sons' portion from our Father's food offerings, from the day they were presented to serve our Father as priests. ³⁶Our Father commanded this be given them from the Israelites, the day he anointed them—a permanent share for all their generations. ³⁷This is the law for burnt offerings, grain offerings, sin offerings, guilt offerings, ordination offerings, and peace offerings, ³⁸which our Father commanded Moses on Mount Sinai, the day he commanded the people of Israel to bring their offerings to our Father in the Wilderness of Sinai.
