Bread for di Hungry Crowd
Five bread feed thousands, and di crowd wan make E be king. Jesus waka come meet dem for top di water, den E tell dem say im Father dey give di true bread from heaven, and na E be dat bread, im flesh wey E give for di world. Plenty disciples comot; Peter no get anywhere else to go.
6 1Afta dis, Jesus cross di Sea of Galilee, wey dem dey call di Sea of Tiberias too. 2Plenty crowd follow am, becos dem see di signs wey e dey do for di sick people. 3Jesus climb go up for di mountainside, e sidon dia wit im disciples. 4Now di Passover, di feast of di Jews, don near.
5As Jesus look up, e see plenty crowd dey come meet am, e ask Philip, “Wia we go fit buy bread make dis people chop?”
6E talk dis one to test Philip, becos e don already sabi wetin e wan do.
7Philip answer am, “Even bread wey reach two hundred days wages no go do, make each of dem sef fit get small.” a a v7 One denarius na like one day wage; two hundred denarii na like eight months pay.
8One of im disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter im broda, talk give am, 9“One boy dey here wey get five barley bread and two fish—but wetin be dat for so many people?”
10Jesus talk, “Make di people sidon.” Plenty grass dey grow dia, so like five thousand men sidon.
11Jesus come take di bread, e give thanks, e share am give dem wey sidon; e do di same wit di fish, as much as dem want.
12As dem belle full, e tell im disciples, “Gada di pieces wey remain, make notin waste.”
13So dem gada di pieces wey remain from di five barley bread afta di people don chop, e full twelve baskets. 14So as di people see di sign wey e do, dem talk, “Dis one na true-true di Prophet wey dey come inside di world!” 15As Jesus sabi say dem wan come grab am make dem crown am king, e comot again go di mountain im one.
Enter di Storm
16As evening reach, im disciples go down to di sea, 17dem enter boat, dem dey cross di sea go Capernaum. E don already dark, and Jesus never reach dem. 18Strong wind dey blow, and di sea come rough. 19Afta dem don row like three or four miles, dem see Jesus dey waka for top di water, e dey come near di boat, and fear catch dem.
20But e tell dem, “Na me; make una no fear.”
21So dem glad to take am enter di boat, and one time di boat reach di shore wia dem dey go.
22Di next day, di crowd wey remain for di oda side of di shore see say na only one boat bin dey dia, and say Jesus no enter am wit im disciples, but say im disciples comot go dia one. 23Oda boats come from Tiberias near di place wia dem chop bread afta di Oga give thanks. 24So as di crowd see say Jesus and im disciples no dey dia, dem enter boat, dem go Capernaum go look for Jesus. 25As dem find am for di oda side of di sea, dem ask am, “Rabbi, wetin time you reach here?”
26Jesus answer dem, “True-true, I dey tell una: una dey find me no be becos una see signs, but becos una chop di bread and belle full una. 27No work for food wey dey spoil, but for food wey dey last go life wey no dey end, wey di Pikin of Man go give una. Becos na for am our Papa don put im seal.”
28Den dem talk give am, “Wetin we go do make we dey do di works of our Papa?”
29Jesus answer dem, “Na dis be our Papa work: dat una believe di one wey e send.”
30So dem ask am, “Wetin sign you go give, make we fit see and believe you? Wetin work you go do? 31Our ancestors chop manna for di wilderness, as dem write am: ‘E give dem bread from heaven make dem chop.’”
32Jesus tell dem, “True-true, I dey tell una: no be Moses give una di bread from heaven — na my Papa dey give una di true bread from heaven. 33Becos di bread of our Papa na di one wey come down from heaven and dey give di world life.”
34So dem talk give am, “Oga, give us dis bread all di time.”
35Jesus tell dem, “Na me be di bread of life. Anybody wey come to me no go hungry again; anybody wey believe me no go thirsty again. 36But as I don tell una, una don see me and una still no believe. 37Everybody wey di Papa give me go come to me, and di one wey come to me I no go ever drive am comot. 38Becos I come down from heaven no be to do my own wish, but di wish of di one wey send me. 39Na dis be di wish of di one wey send me: dat I no go lose any of all wey e don give me, but I go raise dem up for di last day. 40Becos na dis be di wish of my Papa: dat everybody wey look di Pikin and believe am go get life wey no dey end, and I go raise am up for di last day.”
41So di Jews come dey grumble about am becos e talk, “Na me be di bread wey come down from heaven.”
42Dem talk, “No be dis one na Jesus, Joseph im son, wey we sabi im papa and mama? How e come fit talk now say, ‘I come down from heaven’?”
43Jesus answer dem, “Make una stop to dey grumble among una sef. 44Nobody fit come to me except di Papa wey send me draw am, and I go raise am up for di last day. b b v44 To come to Jesus na our Papa im own move — e dey draw im pikin dem come near di Pikin wit love wey dey pursue, no be power wey dey force. 45Dem write am for di Prophets: ‘And our Papa go teach dem all.’ Everybody wey don hear and don learn from di Papa dey come to me. 46—No be say anybody don see di Papa except di one wey come from am; na im don see di Papa. 47True-true, I dey tell una, anybody wey believe get life wey no dey end. 48Na me be di bread of life. 49Una ancestors chop di manna for di wilderness, but dem still die. 50Na dis be di bread wey dey come down from heaven, so dat anybody fit chop am and no die. 51Na me be di living bread wey come down from heaven. Anybody wey chop dis bread go live forever. Di bread wey I go give na my flesh, for di life of di world.”
52Den di Jews come dey argue serious among dem sef, “How dis man fit give us im flesh make we chop?”
53Jesus tell dem, “True-true, I dey tell una, if una no chop di flesh of di Pikin of Man and drink im blood, una no get life inside una. 54Anybody wey dey chop my flesh and drink my blood get life wey no dey end, and I go raise am up for di last day. 55Becos my flesh na true food, and my blood na true drink. 56Anybody wey dey chop my flesh and drink my blood dey remain inside me, and me inside am. 57As di living Papa send me and I dey live becos of di Papa, so anybody wey dey chop me go live becos of me. 58Na dis be di bread wey come down from heaven. E no be like di bread wey una ancestors chop and dem still die. Anybody wey dey chop dis bread go live forever.”
59E talk dis tins as e dey teach for di synagogue for Capernaum. 60As dem hear am, plenty of im disciples talk, “Dis teaching hard. Who fit accept am?”
As Plenty People Turn Back
61As Jesus sabi say im disciples dey grumble about dis, e tell dem, “Dis one offend una? 62Den wetin if una see di Pikin of Man dey climb go up to wia e bin dey before? 63Na di Spirit dey give life; di flesh no dey help notin. Di words wey I don talk give una na spirit and life. 64“But some of una no believe.” Becos Jesus bin don sabi from di start wetin person no believe, and who go betray am. 65And e talk, “Na dis be why I tell una: nobody fit come to me except di Papa make e possible for am.”
66From dis time plenty of im disciples turn back and dem no dey waka wit am again.
67So Jesus ask di Twelve, “Una too wan comot?”
68Simon Peter answer am, “Oga, na who we go go meet? Na you get di words of life wey no dey end, 69We don believe and we don sabi say na you be di Holy One of our Papa.”
70Jesus answer dem, “No be me choose una, di Twelve? But one of una na devil.”
71E dey talk about Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of di Twelve, wey dey near to betray am.
