Im Time Never Reach
For di Festival of Booths, Jesus teach openly, E talk say di teaching na im Father own, no be im own, while di leaders dey find way to kill am and di crowd dey argue about where E come from. E call anybody wey thirsty make e come drink. Di guards come back empty hand.
7 1After all dis, Jesus waka dey go round Galilee, e no wan go Judea, because di Jewish leaders for dat side dey find chance to kill am. 2But di Jewish Festival of Booths don near. a a v2 Di Feast of Tabernacles (Booths) na festival wey dey last one week for harvest time, wen Israel dey stay for tent-tent, dey remember di years wey dem waka for wilderness. 3Im brodas tell am say, “Comot for here go Judea, so dat your disciples fit see di works wey you dey do too.” 4Person wey wan make people know am no dey hide wetin e dey do. If na dis kind things you dey do, show yourself to di world. 5Because even im own brodas no believe am.
6So Jesus tell dem say, “My time never reach, but for una, any time dey correct. 7Di world no fit hate una, but e dey hate me, because I dey talk say di things wey e dey do na bad thing. 8Una una go up go di festival; me I no dey go up dis festival, because my time never fully reach.”
9After e talk dis one, e stay for Galilee. 10After im brodas go up to di festival, e too go up — but no be openly, na quiet-quiet.
11So di Jewish leaders dey find am for di festival, dey ask, “Na where e dey?” 12Plenty yanmayanma about am spread among di crowd: some talk say, “E good,” odas say, “No o, e dey lead di crowd astray.” 13But nobody talk about am openly, because dem dey fear di Jewish leaders. 14Wen di festival don reach half-way, Jesus go up into di temple, e start to dey teach.
15Di Jewish leaders wonder, dem ask, “How dis man take sabi plenty like dis wey e no learn book?”
16Jesus answer dem say, “My teaching no be my own—e come from di one wey send me. 17Anybody wey wan do di will of our Papa go sabi weda my teaching come from my Papa abi na my own head I dey talk from. 18Person wey dey talk from im own head dey find im own glory, but person wey dey find di glory of di one wey send am na true person, no lie dey inside am. 19No be Moses give una di law? But nobody among una dey obey di law. Wetin make una dey try to kill me?”
20Di crowd answer say, “You get demon! Na who dey try to kill you?”
21Jesus reply say, “I do one work, and una all dey wonder. 22Moses give una circumcision — no be say e come from Moses, na from di papa-papa dem — and una dey circumcise man for Sabbath. 23If dem fit circumcise man for Sabbath so dat di law of Moses no go break, wetin make una vex for me because I make one whole man well for Sabbath? 24Make una stop to dey judge by wetin eye see, judge with correct judgment.”
Na Where Him Come From?
25Den some people from Jerusalem talk say, “No be dis man be di one wey dem wan kill? 26But see am dey talk openly, and dem no talk anything to am. Abi di rulers don truly know say na dis one be di Christ? 27But we sabi where dis man come from. Wen di Christ go come, nobody go know where e come from.”
28Den Jesus, as e dey teach for temple, shout say, “Una sabi me, and una know where I come from. But I no come on my own—di one wey send me na true, and una no sabi am. 29I sabi am, because na from am I come, and na im send me.”
30So dem try to grab am, but nobody touch am, because im hour never reach. 31But plenty for di crowd believe am, dem dey ask, “Wen di Christ come, e go do more signs pass wetin dis man do?” 32Di Pharisees hear di crowd dey yanmayanma dis things about am, so di chief priests and Pharisees send temple guards go catch am.
33So Jesus talk say, “I still dey with una small time again, den I go go di one wey send me. 34Una go find me but una no go see me; where I dey, una no fit come.”
35So di Jewish leaders ask each oda say, “Na where dis man wan go wey we no go fit find am? E wan go meet our people wey scatter among di Greeks, go teach di Greeks?
36Wetin e mean wey e talk say: ‘Una go find me, but una no go see me,’ and ‘Where I dey, una no fit come’?”
37For di last day of di festival, di big day, Jesus stand up, e shout say, “If anybody dey thirsty, make e come to me, make e drink. 38Anybody wey believe me, as Scripture talk, rivers of living water go flow comot from im heart.”
39E talk dis one about di Holy Spirit, wey people wey believe am go later receive; di Spirit never dey give-out yet, because Jesus never enter im glory yet.
40Wen dem hear dis words, some for di crowd talk say, “Dis one na di Prophet for true.” 41Odas talk say, “Na dis one be di Christ.” But odas ask say, “How Christ go take come from Galilee? 42No be Scripture talk say di Christ go come from di line of David and from Bethlehem, di village of David?” 43So di crowd divide over am. 44Some of dem wan catch am, but nobody put hand on am.
45So di temple guards go back go meet di chief priests and Pharisees, wey ask dem, “Wetin make una no bring am?”
46Di guards answer say, “Nobody don ever talk di way dis man dey talk.”
47“Una too don let dem deceive una?” di Pharisees answer. 48“Any of di rulers abi di Pharisees don believe am? 49But dis crowd, wey no sabi anything about di law — curse dey on dem.”
50Nicodemus, wey bin go meet Jesus before and na one of dem, ask dem say, 51“Abi our law dey condemn man before dem first hear am and find out wetin e dey do?”
52Dem reply say, “You too na from Galilee? Search am, and see: no prophet dey rise from Galilee.”
53Den dem all go dem house,
