Psalms 3

Book

David Flees Absalom

A psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

Chapter 3.

My Father, how many are my enemies! Many rise up against me.

Many are saying of me, "There is no salvation for him in God." Selah. a a v2 Selah is a musical or reflective marker scattered through the Psalms — likely a cue to pause and consider what was just said. But you, my Father, are a shield around me, my glory and the one who lifts my head.

I cry aloud to my Father, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah. I lay down and slept; I woke again, for my Father sustains me. I will not be afraid of the tens of thousands who have set themselves against me on every side. Arise, my Father! Save me! For you, my Father, have struck all my enemies on the jaw; you have broken the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to my Father. May your blessing be on your people. Selah.
