Psalms 126

Book

We Were Like Those Who Dream

A Song of Ascents.

Chapter 126.

When our Father restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." Our Father has done great things for us; we are filled with gladness.

Restore our fortunes, our Father, like the streams in the Negev. a a v4 The Negev is the dry southern desert of Israel, where empty streambeds flood suddenly with water after the rains — a picture of fortunes reversed in an instant. Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. Whoever goes out weeping, carrying the bag of seed to sow, will surely come home with shouts of joy, carrying bundles of grain.
