Psalms 33

33 ¹ Rejoice in our Father, you righteous; praise is fitting for the upright. ² Give thanks to our Father with the lyre; make music to him on the ten-stringed harp. ³ Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, with a shout of joy.

⁴ For the word of our Father is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. ⁵ He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the covenant love of our Father.

⁶ By the word of our Father the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth. ⁷ He gathers the waters of the sea like a heap; he stores the ocean depths in his storehouses. ⁸ Let all the earth fear our Father; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. ⁹ For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

¹⁰ Our Father brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. ¹¹ The counsel of our Father stands forever, the plans of his heart through all generations.

¹² Blessed is the nation whose Father is our Father, the people he has chosen as his own inheritance. ¹³ From heaven our Father looks down; he sees all humanity. ¹⁴ From his dwelling place he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth. ¹⁵ He forms all their hearts; he discerns everything they do.

¹⁶ No king is saved by the size of his army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. ¹⁷ A horse gives false hope of victory; for all its great strength, it cannot save.

¹⁸ But the eye of our Father is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his covenant love, ¹⁹ to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.

²⁰ Our soul waits for our Father; he is our help and our shield. ²¹ For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. ²² Let your covenant love, our Father, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
