My Soul Waits

62 1 For my Father alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be greatly shaken. 3 How long will you all assault a man, battering him down, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? 4 They only plan to topple him from his high position; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah
5 For my Father alone, my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my glory rest on my Father; my mighty rock, my refuge, is in my Father. 8 Trust in him at all times, people; pour out your hearts before him; our Father is a refuge for us. Selah
9 Surely the lowly are but a breath, the powerful a delusion; on the scales they go up — together they are lighter than a breath. 10 Put no trust in extortion; place no empty hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart on them. 11 Once our Father has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to our Father, a a v11 "Once… twice" is a Hebrew poetic pattern meaning: this above all is what matters most. 12 and to you, my Sovereign Father, belongs covenant love. For you will repay each person according to what he has done.
