Thirsting for You
A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 1 My Father, you are my Father; I seek you with all my heart. My soul thirsts for you, my whole body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have gazed on you in the sanctuary and seen your power and your glory. 3 Because your covenant love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods, and with joyful lips my mouth praises you.
6 When I remember you on my bed, and meditate on you through the long hours of the night. 7 For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast.
9 But those who seek to destroy my life will go down into the depths of the earth. 10 They will be given over to the sword; they will become food for jackals. 11 But the king will rejoice in our Father; all who swear by him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be silenced.
