Psalms 94

94 ¹ Our Father who brings justice — our Father; our Father who brings justice, shine forth! ² Rise up, Judge of the earth; give the proud what they deserve. ³ How long will the wicked, our Father — how long will the wicked gloat?

⁴ They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. ⁵ They crush your people, our Father, and oppress your inheritance. ⁶ They kill the widow and the foreigner, and murder the fatherless. ⁷ They say, "the LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice."

⁸ Pay attention, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? ⁹ Does he who planted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? ¹⁰ Does he who disciplines nations not correct them — the one who teaches mankind knowledge? ¹¹ Our Father knows the thoughts of mankind, that they are but a breath.

¹² Blessed is the one whom you discipline, our Father, and teach from your law, ¹³ giving him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked. ¹⁴ For our Father will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his inheritance. ¹⁵ For justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

¹⁶ Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against the evildoers? ¹⁷ If our Father had not been my help, my soul would soon have settled in the silence of death. ¹⁸ When I said, "My foot is slipping," your covenant love, our Father, held me up. ¹⁹ When anxiety was great within me, your comfort brought joy to my soul.

²⁰ Can a corrupt throne be allied with you — one that writes injustice into law? ²¹ They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. ²² But our Father has become my stronghold, and our Father the rock of my refuge. ²³ He will turn their own iniquity back on them and destroy them for their wickedness; our Father will destroy them.
