Psalms 19

Book

Creation Speaks

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

Chapter 19.

The heavens declare the glory of our Father; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour out their words; night after night they reveal knowledge. There is no speech, there are no words — their voice is never heard. Yet their voice goes out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises from one end of the heavens, and its circuit reaches the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.

The law of our Father is perfect, refreshing the soul; the testimony of our Father is trustworthy, making the simple wise. The precepts of our Father are right, giving joy to the heart; the commandment of our Father is radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of our Father is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of our Father are true, and altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold, than even the finest gold; sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. They warn your servant; keeping them brings great reward.

Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, my Father, my rock and my redeemer.
